Chorus of courage
Chorus of Courage is a space created to honour the voices and stories of survivors of violence. What began as a group became a supportive family, gathering in retreat to explore some of life’s most difficult experiences through love, music, silence, movement, and connection. This project holds the full spectrum of emotions carried by our storytellers.
Their stories were given voice through songwriters, recorded, and shared with our allies, who responded with songs written in solidarity. Together, these songs form a powerful musical conversation—a call and response that holds both the beauty and the pain of lived experience.
By sharing these songs of resilience and hope, Chorus of Courage seeks to inspire empathy, spark dialogue, and foster a culture where all voices are heard, honoured, and empowered.

CHORUS OF COURAGe
About the Project
Under Chorus of Courage, in partnership with the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) and supported by the Sexual Misconduct Support and Resource Centre (SMSRC) we offer a new initiative to offer creative, confidential spaces for military & veteran survivors of sexual violence to explore healing through art and connection.
Participants are invited to take part in:
Creative workshops in songwriting, storytelling, and expression (online and in person)
Individual and group therapeutic support, guided by trauma-informed facilitators
Collaborative music creation, with optional opportunities to record and share original songs
Community gatherings that celebrate resilience and foster dialogue through art
Each year since 2023, new participants join this growing community of creativity & courage where voices are honoured, stories are held with care, and transformation happens through shared music and healing.
